This Drives Me Crazy

Every month or so, the School of Communications at the University of Miami (from where I graduated) sends out an email requesting updated information about Alumni, i.e. where are you working so that we can make the school look cool/good if you in turn have a cool/good job. Sounds great and easy right? There has to be an online form to fill out or just reply to the email right? Oh NO. The email only includes a phone number as a way to provide this information. AND since the email is an image, the phone number is not even “click to call” if you are on a mobile phone. In addition, the email comes from one of those “no reply” addresses so even if you tried, your email reply gets kicked back to you. Do you see the problem yet? Of course, I have yet to submit my information. I absolutely refuse to call.

Today, I received a similar email from the Psychology Department (my second major). However, the request from this department asked that you reply via email and to please feel free to include any additional comments you wanted. What did I do? I promptly shot off an email giving a full update of what I was doing and comments. Personally, I think I have a pretty cool/good job with a pretty cool/good title. Does anyone else see the irony that the School of Communications is having trouble communicating with their Alumnae? Don’t you think that whatever channel you send something out in, people should be able to reply via that channel as well? It’ll be interesting to see how the Psychology Department responds to my reply and my comments. To be continued (maybe)…
